Thats right Mercedes have confirmed their release of the SLS in September later this year, although this has been unveiled quite a while what is interesting is that they are introducing a new Mercedes eDrive system to be available in 2015, and what's more it will be available in the new SLS (i still cant get over that name, ha!) the new system will use lithium ion batteries and uses a rather clever method to optimize power output from the electrical motor, although the electric version wont have as much bhp as the v8 version, 525 compared to the 571 consecutively. The interesting thing is that the electric version does produce more lb.-ft than the v8 version (this is usually a selling point for the chaps at mercedes) the electric version produces 649 where as the v8 produces 479. the new car is based on the original mercedes super car the gul winged 300sl, its going to be beautiful, check out the new drive system above, you may need to open the image in a new window.
